We were inspired by an old-Spanish door to create a Southwest Traditional design. While most Spanish doors are adorned with multiple nail heads, we only added a few for visual interest and texture. The octagonal patterning of the headboard shows the depth of the overlays and stands at 70” in height. The footboard and all of the cases are made with a clipped-corner and low-profile bracket foot.
Made from Rustic Hickory and wire-brushed poplar solids, we finished the product in Charred-Oak. The hand-burnishing of edges and profiles add depth to the patterned headboard and cases. Hardware is inspired from the old iron used to build Spanish doors. Octagonal ring pulls and tapered square knobs are finished in a Black Iron finish.
With such a tall headboard, the Midland tall-Dresser stands out. The Dresser has (6) deep storage drawers and 2 doors for folded storage. Inside the door is a shelf that can be removed. We added a functional 30” wide Nightstand, with 2-drawers and a top-mounted wireless charger in the top and dual-USB ports (A&C ports) on the back. The Drawer Chest features 5 drawers for ample storage space. Lower-row drawers of both the Dresser and Chest utilize an aromatic cedar bottom, while all top-row drawers have felt-covered bottoms and mid-drawers are Cherry veneer. All drawers are made with ½” plywood drawer boxes, English dovetails and ¼” thick drawer bottoms. The 12” Ball-bearing slides, offer the best and most smooth glides available in furniture.
